Beneath the cat, handwritten in Italian: "Nello specchio viso d'angelo" — in the mirror, the face of an angel.
The words are borrowed from D'Angelo by the Diablo Swing Orchestra — the song that was playing when this painting came to life. It is a painting about the way we see the animals we love, and the way they see themselves.
